The large, tapered site for the project is bordered by a canal on the east, train tracks to the north and a roadway on the west. Blocks of buildings along the east and north help define the main spaces oriented to the rest of campus, while also shielding most of the site from train noises. The inhabitants of the far north rooms are treated to distinctive projected windows facing east that help buffer the sound into their rooms (see image on the last page). The view from the canal shows the potential that edge contains, with paths for recreation. Perhaps further work on the canal itself will make it an aesthetic treat, as well.
